It feels like everywhere we turn, there’s pressure to look a certain way.

Chasing beauty seems to be human nature

But things take a bad turn when everything is defined by appearance.
Maybe someone rejects you because you’re not “their type” physically.
Or you work really hard for an opportunity that goes to someone else because they look a certain way.
If you are good looking, you may wonder whether people actually care about you or are only interested in your appearance.
Do you want people to value you only based on how you look?
There is one who doesn’t judge by appearance.
The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7b-c

Break free

It is easy to feel weighed down. Society presents certain standards of beauty, and if we accept them we put pressure on ourselves.
You don’t need to be owned by society’s standards!
The Lord God looks at your heart, not your appearance.
He is your Creator, so the truth is that your value and identity are found in him.
Christ Jesus is the true image of God in human form, but he was described as not being anything special to look at.

It is what Jesus did for us to cover for our shortcomings, our sin, that is extraordinary.

Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.
1 Peter 3:18

Finding Yourself

Instead of trying to constantly find your identity in your appearance, maybe it’s time to find out who your Creator made you to be. He is ready to accept and forgive you if you will come to him.

Are you ready to find your identity in how your Maker sees you?
